Metal Man, Tattooed Woman

A pinup done for 'dopepope' and his Metal Man Project. The deal with the pinup was to incorporate the robot's head and wing logo into the artwork.

For the tattoos I used previously drawn pencil sketches and distorted them to fit the contours of the body.

Excuse the nudity...and the smoking...some people have no shame.

Good heaven's Chris, those tatts are retarded!!
Isn't it nice to get a little re-use from your artwork.
Get your clip-art on!

The way this chick looks sideways at you...and that smoke coming outta her nostrils makes me feel like a weedy mattador who chose to wear red.

Way to put the 'tuoood' in attitude Chris

Oh, when you said that the tattoos were previously drawn pencil sketches, I just assumed they were drawings done in the past that were pulled from your archive. (which I sometimes do).

Sometimes I might go through my hard drive and use previously drawn images as clip-art when appropriate.

Were these tattoos drawn specifically for this project?

Thanks for the comments everyone!

Overvision- That's cool, O. I was 99% sure it was a compliment. It was just the use of 'retarded' that threw me. :)

...and yes, you read correctly, they are recycled old drawings.

Glad you dig it, mate.

Thanks everyone!

julkillo- I thought about adding more colour to it. At one point I wanted to make it into a digital painting, but I like the simple, graphic look to it. So I'll leave it as is.

Shalom,
Hey Chris, have you heard of the "Drink and draw social club" by any chance, google it, you'd love it. You were made for each other.

ryan- Don't fret, Ryan. It took me an hour just to get the tattoo placement right! I very easily get bogged down with little details.

...and just between you and me, I've never drawn from live models (nudes anyway) and I've never attended life drawing classes. I'm not proud of it, my artwork and knowledge of anatomy suffers because of it. So by all means do more life drawing.

But yes, photographs are used whenever I'm not sure of something.

faboun'e- I'm guessing you mean Rose McGowan. I can see the likeness now you mention it. Same attitude also.

I'll try and post new stuff whenever possible. So keep visiting. Thanks!

"Smokin" Chris. I've just "discovered" your work, and totally lovin' it. I like your honestly (such as the comment about never drawing from life) and am taken back by how you can draw so good using a wacom tablet (I'm retarded at it, in the bad sense). I admire you can draw without reference, I can't draw without reference, it always looks weird when I do. Super super glad I "found" your blog. Keep it up man!
